After the completion of three Prep years children are thoroughly prepared for the next phase of more formal education.
Rosemount International School adopts an inquiry-based, integrated curriculum which focuses on the child as a learner. We recognize that children come to us as distinct individuals with unique experiences, backgrounds, abilities and interests. Our teachers promote cross cultural understanding, and differentiate instruction to meet students’ varying needs, abilities, and learning styles. We provide a balanced education program within a safe, stimulating environment so that each child can learn and grow to their greatest potential.

We use integrated units of inquiry to make learning more meaningful, fun and connected
Classes follow Units of Inquiry which guide their studies for a 5-6 week period with a central theme that ties all of the learning areas together. Throughout the Integrated Units of work students generate questions with which to conduct inquiry into significant content. Integration provides a common framework, making learning more meaningful and connected, and brain-based research informs us that learning is better understood and retained longer if children see connections. It is through this inquiry process that students gain essential knowledge and skills and are encouraged to engage on responsible action. Students not only acquire knowledge, they examine larger concepts and begin to make meaningful connections in their world. They do all of this in a climate which fosters positive attitudes and develops concepts of internationalism.
Our learning is meaningful, purposeful and assessed
All learning activities are planned to provide meaningful and purposeful outcomes and are constantly monitored and assessed. Teachers use a variety of assessment techniques including testing for knowledge and skills, observations, portfolios of children’s work and analysis of book, project and practical work. Attitude, learning skills, social relationships and effort are considered equally important when looking at the overall development of the child. Detailed descriptive reports are given to parents two times a year and parent/teacher conferences are also held to discuss each child’s social and academic progress.
Learning occurs both at school and home
The home environment and the family plays a crucial role in the holistic development of children and at Rosemount parents and care-givers are encouraged to take an active role in their child’s development.
Our grade classes have two levels:
Grade 1 - For children 5 + years.
The mandatory attendance requirement for this class is 5 Full Days (Mon- Fri, 9am to 3pm).
Grade 2 - For children 6 + years.
At the end of Grade 2 students have established a firm foundation for future learning, have become independent and have grown in self-confidence. They are then ready to continue their learning journey.
